If you need me

where.I.shall.take.residence
I'll be right here. For like a week or so.

Well if I'm not in the kitchen I will be right here.  I am wondering why I've signed myself up for a 5mile run on Thanksgiving morning instead of choosing to be right here.  I do imagine everything will taste 5x as good after the run, so that's something.  And that spot on the left of the couch there,  right up against the log cabin pillow, situated and stretched out just right so the bottoms of me feet are warmed by my hubby at the other end in his spot, yes, even that will feel 5x better after a long run, and a warm meal.  (That's what I tell myself when I cry a little on the inside about 5 miles in the cold.)

What do you think?!! Look!  The living room was clean for like a half of a second so I took a quick pic of the gallery side.  We are really enjoying it.  Feels just right, wall-color-wise.

In other news Cash the puppy ate my only pair of knitting needles.  In other other news Cash the puppy ate my only pair of eye GLASSES.  Glasses.  (You may remember the storied pair of glasses.)  I am so confused.  Glasses don't even taste like anything.  I can see where bamboo knitting needles are wood, and dogs chew wood.  Just like remembering newborns all over again, with puppies (particularly labs I think) you really forget what you are dealing with until you are holding several pieces of what were formerly a pair of tacky grandma from Miami Versace zebra striped eye glasses. Hmpf.

Good try Cash the puppy, but I have contact lenses and new knitting needles and I still love you.
good weekend! xo, AM

  1. The wall is gorgeous! My puppy (who was almost 2 yrs old at the time and weighs all of 6 lbs) ate my glasses once. I didn't get it, either. :)

  4. What a pup!
Anna Maria, I am so excited for your Thanksgiving morning plan... go, Go, GO! I'll be thinking of you, and cheering you on. And I agree, your hard won meal and comfy time will be, at least, 5x more wonderful. Enjoy!

  5. My cat goes crazy for my glasses. And plastic bags. Someone told me plastic--petroleum--tastes sweet, and that's why they love it. I don't know for sure. All I know is, my glasses are not safe, no matter how well I think I hide them at night.

  6. I am impressed with your plans. I don't think I could run a 5K if someone was chasing me. If I had a room that gorgeous I think I might never leave. Ever.

Have fun on your run and reaping the rewards!

  8. A lab puppy !?! I'm afraid you're in for a lot more surprises. Our bad Speedy ate many pairs of reading glasses and tv remotes in his puppyhood. Those were his favorites. Oh, and slippers and shoes too. Good luck!

  16. Gorgeous, gallery wall. Slowly, slowly trying to surround myself and my family with as much handmade beauty as you have. I have to stick to stitching though. Only my two year old appreciates my drawing! Also, my dog eats my quilts (http://growingberries.blogspot.fr/2012/03/dog-ate-my-quilt.html) watch out!!

  18. Wow...a serious chewer! WE found the Kong chews were amazing with our dog :)

Good excuse to buy a Knit Picks interchangeable needle set. I love my nickel plated circulars! Amazing needles.

  19. I have a 9 month old lab mix, and exactly one (1)! pair of glasses left completely intact. My parents are both optometrists and I had amassed quite a collection, but one by one, I forgot to put them away properly and they were chewed upon, bent out of shape, had the lenses removed from the frames, etc. The pair I'm wearing as I type has teeth marks on the lenses and the ear pieces are an inch or two shorter than they use to be! Oh well, puppies...they're worth it, they're worth it (keep repeating until you believe it).

  20. We are painting a door in our basement that colour. I wonder if I was subliminally influenced by you?

  21. I've heard dogs have a thing for eating things that touch your ears. Dogs are known to eat hearing aids like crazy. I wonder if it's because the glasses rest on your ears???

  22. Labs seem to calm down around 2 years of age as I remember! Our little Papillon chews up everything he can get his teeth on! Drives me crazy and he is almost 2!

  23. I laughed reading your post about Cash since last month our pit bull pup ate my only pair of glasses. This is in addition to numerous pens, Legos, slippers, Nerf bullets, homework...you get the idea. The most memorable item thus far, though, has been my oldest son's Boy Scout merit badge. I had to ask the Scoutmaster if he could order another one (that I would pay for) since I wasn't about to sew on the one that was (successfully) pooped out :)

  24. Oh, yes, labs chew everything for about the first year or so. Mine even chewed a piece off the siding of our house, ate cigarette butts from construction workers that were at our house, chewed through wires, and bit a hole in the screen door. Despite the fact they are known for their "soft" mouths, when they are pups they use those little teeth to chew everything.

  25. Sorry to say that I was told the following by an employee at the Guide Dogs a few years ago when we received a lab that didn't make the cut as a Guide Dog... "labradors chew till they're 2 and shred till they're dead!" Our lab is now 4 and although now more discerning in her chewing habits...still will chew things she shouldn't!
